Since childhood I have always had a fascination with painting. The simple brush strokes creating a unique world into which I was allowed to peer. My earliest memories stem from the paintings lining the walls of my maternal grandparents home, some, as I latter discovered, were paintings by my grandfather.
As a child and young adult, I kept art in my life to one extent or another. Occasional reading, browsing books, school art projects, doodling and drawing instead of taking class notes, and once, reaching the nineties, the internet, all played a roll in allowing me to further my interests. Once high school reached its final year, I was firmly set on oils, although any strict sense of style or technique were still in early development.
After completing a Bachelor of the Arts degree from Hartwick College and then abandoning all art for a year, I began to evaluate my position to art and its place in my life. Which brings us to today.
This blog is, in essence, a new beginning, a return to painting and my relationship with it. I feel that by writing my thoughts out, I may help myself realize the reasons why I have returned to painting, and through this I may also help others on their journeys with art and, perhaps, even life.
